The Best Hair Masks for Healthy Curls

If I must say so myself, I have some pretty great hair but it hasn't always been this way. I've been rocking my curly hair for about 6 Years now and one of my big secrets for popping curls is hair masks. Over the years I've tried all kinds of masks. Homemade masks, protein masks, and storebought masks that claim to be able to revitalize your curls like nothing you've ever seen. Needless to say, I was less than impressed with many of them and decided to create my own.

As the wellness and natural beauty junkie that I am, I dove into researching the best oils, butters, and food for shiny, hydrated curls. I'm happy to announce that the 3 recipes below are the Best Hair Masks I've ever used!

The first hair mask that I am completely obsessed with is one that my gorgeous Puerto Rican momma introduced to me when I was a child. To my dismay, she would slather my head with it and leave it on there for hours. Little did I know that my momma was a genius for treating my hair with this mask. The recipe goes as follows:

And that's it! Let is sit in your hair for 30 Minutes to an Hour and rinse off with cool water! Proceed by shampooing, conditioning, and styling as you normally would.

The second recipe I couldn't live without is one that benefits the hair but is even more beneficial for the scalp. Like many curlies out there I have dry scalp which is itchy, unsightly and ridiculously inconvenient. What appears to be build up or dandruff is simply the aftermath of a dry scalp. I knew I needed to create a mask that would alleviate the itch and remove the flakes for as long as possible, and so I created the following recipe:

Part your hair into four sections and massage the mixture into your scalp. The bentonite clay and baking soda gently exfoliate while disinfecting your scalp. This mask serves as a cleanser and a hydrating mask because of the rose water and the fatty acids in the olive oil. Skip shampooing and condition and style your hair as usual.

And last but not least is a mask that's a special treat for when your hair is feeling brittle and super dry! This mask is extremely hydrating and is perfect for curly kinky hair and color treated hair. It also happens to be my secret weapon during the Summertime to combat beach/pool hair. What you'll need:

In the microwave or stovetop, melt all of the ingredients together excluding the essential oils. Once melted add your desired essential oils and let cool in the refrigerator for 10 minutes. Once the mixture is cool to the touch, part your hair in four and apply evenly throughout your hair. Allow the mask to sit on your hair for 30-60 minutes. Wash, condition, and style as usual.

Well, there you have it, ladies! The Best Hair Masks for Curly Hair. What better way to thank your luscious mane than to treat it to the best hair masks. What's your favorite hair mask, tell me in comments below.

Are you as obsessed with these masks as I am? GREAT! Pin, like and share them with your tribe.
